What is Reiki?
Reiki is one of the most ancient healing techniques known to man, although it only became known as Reiki as a result of the work of Mikao Usui in the 1920s. It is based on the principle that illness and disease are the result of impairment to the natural flow of life energy. The purpose of Reiki is to reinstate the balance and flow of this energy throughout the body. During a Reiki treatment the therapist channels Reiki energy through their hands, into the receiver's body, with the objective of enhancing the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive, hands-on (or auric) healing technique, which uses spiritual energy to balance and align chakras, and stimulating self-healing abilities, harmonizing all aspects of the person - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

What is Reiki used for?
Reiki can be used for a variety of issues: Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Emotional - with the holistic theory that all are connected.
Physical: Reiki can be used to treat physical pain such as muscle tension or ear ache, as well as to ease pain and discomfort from cancer and other diseases.
Mental: Reiki can be used to treat mental illness, such as anxiety and depression, as well as for simple stress-relief, relaxation and to help improve sleep patterns.
Spiritual: Reiki can be used to aid spiritual growth and self-discovery, self-awareness and transformation.
Emotional: Reiki can help to heal emotional issues, both current and from past trauma.
What should I expect?
A Reiki treatment will always begin with a detailed consultation and assessment, which lasts half an hour (less if telephone or email consultation). During the consultation, the reason you are seeking treatment will be discussed, along with any issues you are aware of.
During the treatment itself, you will lie on a therapy bed, face-up and fully clothed.
The healer will then prepare and tune into the Reiki energy, and proceed to move down your body, laying hands on chakras and other key points.
During treatment, Reiki energy will enter your body and displace any negative energy which might be present, and help unblock and align chakras.
People have reported many different experiences from a Reiki treatment, from feeling a warm sensation where hands are placed (even after the practitioner has moved on from the area), and sometimes a tingling or heavy feeling. People have also reported visions, colours and strong emotional feelings. Reiki can cause twitching, laughter and even tears - all of which are completely normal, and our own way of releasing negative energy.
We also offer teacher training for those wanting to be attuned to the energy, to become practitioners themselves, or simply to aid self-healing. Please see
